TODO POR JUGAR

Documentary (2018/2019)

Carlos is 33 and living with schizophrenia. He’s also a goalkeeper and the captain of a football team. Some days, he can’t face getting out of bed. Some days he ends up in hospital. Yet every week he’s there for tough, rigorous training with FC Pol Positiu.

Made in collaboration with OTOXO productions, All to Play For, follows the journey of the 18 players that form the team. Their coach, Max, is unrelenting, but he’s getting results – the team has been undefeated for two years – and in Barcelona, a city so synonymous with football, even in a local league, that’s a record worth taking notice of.

For Max, the theory is simple – “Football heals. It makes you fight, it makes you suffer, it makes you care. It makes you feel alive.”

But health, like football, is rarely straightforward. As the season progresses, the team face struggles with both form and health, and certain members even find themselves watching from the sidelines.

Can FC Pol Positiu stay on track? And can football continue to provide a source of hope and relief for Carlos and the rest of the team? It’s all to play for.

In January 2020 ‘Todo por jugar’ was broadcast on Barcelona’s public TV station, betevé.
